Opened in the Fall of 2015, the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education provides residential and non-residential support services to empower military-connected students to realize their potential through a world-class education experience that prepares them to lead fulfilling, meaningful, and maximally independent lives.
Through educational innovations, research breakthroughs, and a dedicated staff of counselors and specialists, the Center supports student veterans' health and full participation in society. Our programs are based on a long history of leadership in disability services, a passionate commitment to serve our nations's veterans and their families from an individual and personal perspective, and in the context of a transformative learning experience from one of the world's leading universities.
There are many reasons why our campus might be the perfect fit for you, like our designation as a Paralympic Training Site and other competitive sports opportunities; a thriving student veteran community; top graduation and employment rates for students with disabilities; a veteran focused academic and transition support system; broad and deep educational opportunities at the undergraduate, professional, and graduate levels in just about anything that you can imagine; and many others.
If you are a military-connected student who is looking for a place where you can take the next step in making a significant and visible societal impact, look no further. The Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is the place for you.
